I performed my 1st case of POBA (plain old balloon angioplasty) for left anterior descending coronary artery lesion in 1980. When I remember the case detail, I am always sweating a lot. The only way to dilate the lesions was balloon dilatation.
Since those days, a lot of innovations were developed. And, the procedures become quicker, simpler and safer. Occasionally I am asking me: How long I can continue these procedures? When I stop the procedures? Anyway the most important principle for me is as follows; I have to keep safe and quick procedures. If I cannot keep the above principles, it is the time to quit my procedure.
